The police recovered a dead body from a pond in Madaripur on Tuesday.The locals found the body floating in an abandoned pond at College Road area of Sharif Bari at around 10am.

The locals identified the body as Minu, 20, a helper of Habib Shikdar in Collage Road area who was then arrested.

Md Kaium Ali Sardar told journalists that she might have suffocated to death as a nylon rope was found on her neck.

The body was sent to Madaripur Sadr Hospital for post mortem.
