Detectives yesterday arrested Md Rubel’s maternal uncle who allegedly provided Rubel with the firearm to kill the parents of a schoolgirl at Gulshan in the city on March 24.Detective Branch of Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Mollah Nazrul Islam said they arrested Altaf Hossain at Rupsi of Siddhirganj upazila in Narayanganj yesterday morning.

ADC Nazrul claimed that Altaf is a criminal of Nadda in the city and he maintains a gang for carrying out criminal activities.

He said they would produce Altaf before a court seeking his remand.

DB officials said they arrested Altaf following information gleaned from Rubel who already confessed to killing businessman Sadequr Rahman and his wife Romana Nargis at their Kalachandpur home.

According to his confessional statement, Rubel murdered his alleged girlfriend’s parents since the couple “stood in the way of their love”.
