The government will revive the National Women Development Policy 1997, which was formulated by the previous Awami League government, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury told the House today.

While replying to a query of AL lawmaker Junaid Ahmed Palak, she said the previous government of Sheikh Hasina formulated the national women policy after holding series of dialogue and discussions. But the BNP government cancelled it, she added.

“The present government will move to reinstate the National Women Development Policy of 1997,” the state minister said.

Replying to lawmakers’ queries, the state minister also mentioned various measures taken by her ministry for the welfare of women and children.
