Mohammedan SC moved into the semifinal of the Women’s Club Cup Cricket Tournament crushing Victoria SC by massive 258 runs at the Gulshan Youth Club ground in Dhaka Thursday, reports UNB. With this feat, Mohammedans have secured four points from three matches to reach the semis from Group B after beating Indira Road KC by 10 wickets in the previous match. Ansar & VDP team also confirmed the semifinal berth from the same group securing full four points from two matches and will play the last group match against all-losers Indira Road KC tomorrow (Saturday) to decide the group champions.
Winning the toss in the day’s match, Mohammedan SC decided to bat first and amassed 290 runs for 3 wickets in stipulated 35 overs with a brilliant ton by one down Rumana Ahmed.
Rumana contributed not out 112 runs off 98 balls with 13 boundaries, two down Tahin Ahmed scored 49 runs off 52 balls with four fours while opener Shaila Sharmin made 44-ball 42 runs with five fours.
Fahadi Masuma took the lone wicket for 54 runs while the other two returned to the pavilion as victims of run out.
In reply, Victoria SC were dismissed for just 32 runs in 21 overs with opener Mina Begum only reaching double figure with 16 runs.
Shaila Begum grabbed three wickets for 5 runs in seven overs while Salma Khatun and Eti Mondal took two wickets each for one and 10 runs respectively.
In the day’s other match, BKSP also booked a seat for the last four eliminating Khulna Women’s Cricket Academy by 51 runs at the City Club ground.
Coin-favoured BKSP batted first to score 139 for all in 34.2 overs with Farzana Huq contributing 28 runs, Sanjuda Islam 26 and Sumona Akhter 24 runs.
