The eight-team Women’s Club Cup Cricket tournament begins Saturday at the game’s premier venue Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur with Abahani Limited taking on BKSP in the opening match. President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Lt Gen Sina Ibn Jamali will inaugurate the 35 over-a-side eleven-day meet, organized by women’s wing of BCB.

Eight teams, split into two groups, will initially compete on league basis matches at three city venues — Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Gulshan Youth Club ground and City Club ground.

Later, two top teams from each of the group will play in the semifinals, both on May 4.

The final match will be held on May 6 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur after a day recess of May 5.

Participating teams are: Group A – Abahani Ltd, Dipali Jubo Sangha, BKSP and Khulna Women’s Cricket Academy.

Group B – Mohammedan SC, Victoria Sc, Ansar & VDP and Indira Road KC.
