Bad behaviour with female passengers

Posted on 10 March 2009

ThereĀ  is a prevailing phenomenon and this is the bad behavior by rickshaw-pullers, drivers of CNGs, taxis or even conductors of buses, with female passengers, from girls to older women.

Why do these people behave so boorishly with womenfolk? When I asked a few of them, they denied ever doing anything like but admitted that some do. Some of course I confronted as they were in the act like a rickshaw-puller on one occasion and he just clamped up and turned his face away before leaving from the place altogether without any passenger.

Do they behave this way because women are less likely to win the argument which is invariably about fare? The lout will ask a fare which is far above the normal and the subsequent protest will be returned with an obnoxious riposte, something degrading and insulting.

It would thus be a commendable endeavour if something could be done to improve the situation. If we are to get ahead as a civilised nation, we should try and get beyond the rhetoric. Our womenfolk deserve better surely.
