The government for the very first time has awarded eight women for their achievement in the field of small and medium entrepreneurship.
The awards are given in three categories: best woman entrepreneur, best innovative woman entrepreneur and best organisation administered by women. The award recipients are: Nilima Akther Chowdhury of Chittagong National Training Academy (1st position), Tania Wahab of Dhaka Ethni Craft (2nd position) and Nasima Khatun of Rajshahi Prakash Boutique (3rd position). They got the award under best woman entrepreneur category.
Under the best innovative woman entrepreneur, Manwara Talukdar of Gaibandha Palli Badhu Kallyan Shangstha got the 1st position, Khaleda Ahmed of Dhaka Messers Yadun Enterprise secured the 2nd position and Mirza Mursheda Akther Lipi of Tangail Himel Mashrum Chash Prokolppo got the 3rd position.Aziz Khatun of Dhaka Dekor IDEE received the first prize while Shahida Begum of Barisal Liberty Tailors for the second prize under the best organisation administered by woman.
SME Foundation of Industries Ministry organised the ceremony where special assistant to the chief adviser Mahbub Jamil handed over the cheques, crests and certificates to the award recipients.
Tk one lakh was given to the first place holders, Tk 50,000 for the second place holders and Tk 25,000 for the third place holders.
In his speech, Mahbub Jamil said the participation of the women should be ensured in all sectors.
“Policymakers, banks and financial institutions must change their negative mind-setup towards the women entrepreneurs,” he said.
