A daylong orientation workshop on ‘Women Empowerment’ was held at the training room of Tushbhander Federation Office of Rangpur-Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS) in Kaliganj Upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Under the assistances of Bangladesh NGO Foundation, Tushbhander Federation Office of RDRS organised the workshop recently that stressed the need of taking joint efforts to encourage involvement of women in the country’s economic activities and local governance by ensuring their rights.
With women leader activist and President of Pragoti Tushbhander Federation Nari Forum Rowshan Ara Begum in the chair, the workshop was addressed, among others, by Senior Manager of Kaliganj RDRS Office Ahsanul Alam, chairman of Pragoti Tushbhander Federation Nirmal Kumar Roy, its Secretary Ismail Hossain, local women community leaders and public representatives.
Speakers discussed various matters with a view to ensure women empowerment and rights at all levels including production, development and local governance activities for accelerating the overall development process.
The speakers said that it is vital to ensure equal rights of the women at all spheres in the society. They emphasized the need for creating mass awareness about the rights of women at the grassroots level, creating women friendly social environments and ensuring their increased participation and decision making activities in the local government bodies everywhere in the rural Bangladesh.
